The 2010 Women's Open tournament will present challenges for all teams in the tournament. 15 teams will try to dethrone the defending open champions: James Madison.
We will take a look at this year's open field to see how each team fared last year at the NCCS championships.
This year's field looks to be a tough go for James Madison. Six of the eight quarterfinal teams, including James Madison, return to attempt to capture the open crown. They include:
2009 Open Finalist Oregon, Semifinalists: Colorado "Black" and Boston College, Quarterfinalists: San Diego State and Villanova.
2009 Open teams who are also returning include Iowa State, Miami (FL), Vermont and Vanderbilt.
Newcomers for this year that did not participate in either tournament last year include: Northeastern, Salt Lake Community College, Kansas and Northern Arizona.
The final two teams competed in the 2009 Championship division and they include: Round of 16 participant Illinois and Consolation winner Missouri.
Will it be the field or will it be a back-to-back open championships for James Madison?
It all begins on Thursday!!!
